Introduction I want to start off by talking about what we do know about children, early reading and a literate Australia. First of all we know that sharing a love of reading, rhyming, singing and talking with your baby is one of the best things you can do to give your baby a head start in life. If that sounds a bit like a motherhood statement (no pun intended) it's not. In fact there's lots of research that confirms the importance and value of reading to very young children.
